ABOUT

Alison Rusk, LMFT

Certified Brainspotting Therapist

I was born and raised in the southeast suburbs of the twin cities. I called Alexandria, MN my second home my entire life. My grandparents retired here, and I was fortunate to spend many weekends and summertimes enjoying the relaxed "lake life" with family. My husband and I decided to make Alexandria our home in 2017 and have enjoyed every minute of it! I am a wife, mother, and a christian. My faith is the foundation of my drive to be as helpful to others as I am able. I believe the mind and body have an inherent ability to heal, but we often experience many variables that get in the way. As a therapist, I view my responsibility as helping to identify and address those individual variables that are hindering the healing process. My approach to therapy is very client-centered, letting the individual needs of my clients forge the path to healing.

I obtained my undergraduate degree from Minnesota State University, Mankato where I double majored in Psychology and Alcohol and Drug Studies. Prior to graduating, I completed a six month internship in both inpatient and outpatient chemical dependence settings. It was in these internship experiences that I decided to pursue a license in marriage and family therapy. I obtained my graduate degree from Saint Mary's University of Minnesota in Marriage and Family Therapy. As I continued to gain experience as a therapist, I found myself noticing common threads of hopelessness and a sense of lack of control toward mental health. It was this, and my own personal health journey, that fueled my decision to go back for more schooling. I obtained a graduate degree from the American College of Healthcare Sciences in Complementary and Alternative Medicine with a focus in holistic nutrition. I am very excited and passionate about integrating the knowledge and skills gained in my educational and professional experiences to promote the health and healing of the clients that I work with!

I do not prescribe medications or supplements.

"For I will restore health to you and heal you of your wounds" says the Lord.
